Been Waiting for This Day

Post by 45 4 life »

I am happy to say that my wife and daughter have completed the class and we will be going to the post office early next week. That makes the family complete 4 out of 4. Got to work on the daughter in law now. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :txflag:

Congratulations! You are evidently doing a great job and I am sure the daughter in law will come to see the light, soon.

Yay. If every CHLer did this, Texas would be greatly benefitted. :thumbs2:

my in-laws just took a CHL class... they live in a small suburb of the medium sized suburb of Arlington. She is always talking about how it is a small town, and everyone knows each other, and nothing bad ever happens... I always reply with "sometimes the bad neighborhood comes to you." in the words of Ron White... "I don't know why they don't like me?" so, the class they took was done by the small town's Cheif of Police. let me do some history here:

My M-I-L once asked me, just after my wife and I got married, why I felt the need to kill someone over something small, like the amount of cash in my wallet... After I chuckled, I asked her what else was in my wallet and pockets besides just money. She eventually got around to "there's your DL with the address to where you and my precious daughter live, and the keys to get into that location". I asked her if she wanted that in the hands of an armed felon... she decided that she did not. I asked her what steps she would find acceptable for me to take to prevent my self from being the victim of a violent robbery and murder, and the violent robbery, rape and murder of her daughter in our own home. She decided that using a legally concealed handgun and shooting that man was a better alternative than that... wow, we've come so far, just in that one 5 minute conversation!

This last thanksgiving, she gave me a side hug, and touched my gun, and in her most appalled voice asked me, "Why do you think that you need to bring a gun to thanksgiving diner?" and informed me that she found that to be inappropriate. I told her that crooks don't take the day off. she didn't like that, but she didn't say anything further.

So this class was with the local police chief, and apparently his lecture portion was full of good olde cop stories from their own little bedroom community of all of the terrible things that happen in her own back yard, but that she never knew about.

She announced to the family last Sunday at dinner that everyone needed to get a CHL and as soon as her plastic came in the mail, that she was going to go out and buy a little gun (she likes the G26) and carry it at all times.

My jaw hit the floor!

OP, congrats, keep working to protect your family, and encourage them to protect themselves.

Congratulations to both families. It's great to see mentalities change for the better.
