Gonzales shooting March 10, 2009

The details of this incident are not clear, and probably reports are inaccurate at this time.

Long story short: Two vehicles pursued a third vehicle and crashed in the parking lot of Gonzales City Hall around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. The woman driving the target vehicle ran into City Hall. Two men in the target vehicle ran away. One of the assailants ran them down with an SUV, got out, and started beating them. Then he reportedly shot them.

Two bystanders tried to stop the shooter and were shot or otherwise injured.

The assailant ran away and is still at large. Several other people involved were arrested. Five people were taken to hospitals, two in critical condition.

The reported ferocity of this attack suggests a domestic dispute, but I would also put money on gang activity.

This incident is now reported to be the result of a feud between two families that has been going for months. Two previous shootings resulted from the same feud.
