Massacre, hostage-taking in New York

Massacre, hostage-taking in New York
In Binghamton, New York, this morning, a lone man reportedly shot at least four people and took over 40 hostages.
The incident took place at a non-government center that provides services to immigrants.
This is a developing story, and little reliable information is available.

Yep, saw it. Latest from fox news said he drove his car up to the back door to barricade the building, walked in with an automatic weapon (don't know how true that is) and began firing. It is now an ongoing hostage situation.
And of course as in any liberal state the good guns are all outside in the hands of police. Just like the shooting at the nursing home, I bet one person inside that was armed at the time could have stopped this already. When are they going to learn that a person bent on doing damage is not going to obey any laws and that responsible citizens need to be armed!

Fox and CNN anre now saying that witnesses at the scene saw authorities escorting out TWO asian males and a number of people, possibly the hostages, so hopefully this is over!

I was surprised to hear Geraldo Reveria (sp) make the point that these gunmen go into places like this KNOWING that everyone is unarmed.
My prayers go out to the shooting victims and their families.

The story that I quoted said, "a high-powered rifle."
Reporters get all sorts of contradictory and garbled information at this stage. I wouldn't be surprised if someone said "machine gun," but I bet it will be untrue.
Only a few crimes have been committed with machine guns in this country in the last 50 years. They're too difficult to get.
Here's a blog that is updated every couple of minutes: http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/0 ... hamton/?hp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The situation may have been resolved by now, but I take everything with a grain of salt.

That number (and those of the wounded) are very "fluid" right now and there is little or no confirmation on much of what is being reported. Expect numbers to change....as all the news agencies scramble to be the first to MAYBE be right.

In any case, it is a tragedy.

It appears to have been resolved at this point. The gunman has been found dead, and the NY Governor is saying 12 to 13 dead.

It's a little late for April Fools Day guys.
We all know this could never happen in New York because they have strict gun laws.

Tragic.......
But you are correct....I cannot imagine how this happened in NY as they are so well protected by their government.

I'm just waiting for the spin by the antis about how incidents like this will require even harsher gun control.
To which I will calmly reply, "Blaming incidents like this on guns is like blaming obesity on forks."
Glad the situation is over. Sad for all of those involved. Disappointed that events like these could have been avoided with as little as one legally armed citizen.

Needless to say, this happened in a Victim Disarmament Zone.
Keep a close eye on news reports - the major media doesn't like to report it, but if this case runs true to form the odds are very high that the perp had been prescribed Ritalin, Luvox, Prozac, or some other psychoactive drugs, making this another triumph for the pill-pushing quacks of modern psychiatry.
