rape victim speaks out

My heart certainly goes out to this victim. No one should have to endure what she went through.

But her story, however skewed from her perspective of "who should have done what", is proof positive that an individual's first line of defense is himself. Sadly, this young lady was taught that others would be there in time of need as she looked to the subway workers and anticipated the police being called. I think the saddest part of the video is when she says that she blames the subway workers more than the rapist himself.

I suppose if she had produced a handgun and shot the guy, then rather than the media blaming everyone else but the rapist, they would have turned her into a Bernie Goetz. Sad, just sad.

I watched the interview. No one should be subjected to rape/assault. However, I was bothered by the fact that she stated the transit worker was more responsible for the rape than the rapist. I can appreciate her frustration at not having anyone held accountable (the rapist has not been caught), but I agree with the judge that the transit worker was not responsible.

If I lived in NYC, I would be more angry at the politicians that have taken away my right to defend myself. That is where the lawsuit should be focused.

Amen. The people who enact and enforce laws disarming victims are aiding and abetting the criminals.
