CNN survey on stricter gun laws

Post by Purplehood »

Just watched CNN announce that in response to the spate of recent "mass" shootings, there has been a significant change in the number of people supporting stricter gun laws.

Down.

From a high of roughly 54% back in 2000, it has steadily declined to a current 39% of people supporting stricter gun laws.

Who'd a thought, and especially hearing it on CNN?

Maybe Obama and his folks see the writing on the wall and are leery of tackling this issue as a result.

Maybe people are finally realizing the police can't protect them. Only they can protect themselves and their family. Having a gun helps.

Well, I have always heard that the only difference between a man that is pro-gun and a man that anti-gun is a mugging. Like you said, maybe people are waking up to the fact that their safety and the safety of their family is their responsibility.

this survey was talked about on Lou Dobbs last night. He's a CNN guy, and seems rather pro-constitution from what I've seen.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

It amazes me that the antis cant see this. I think they just want to be the only ones w/ the guns.

It is willful ignorance and an insatiable hunger for power to control. :banghead:

If the economy keeps declining even the most dedicated antis will realize they need to be able to defend themselves.
It can happen here.

Was it here or elsewhere, that I saw a LEO statement that the LEO's mission was to enforce the laws...not protect the people?

One constantly hears an LEO's primary mission is to stay alive. The inference is no matter what it takes. Go figure.

The "protection" of the People by an LEO Agency/Officers is a collective action, not an individual one. It has NEVER been an individual one.

The only thing that is an individual action is when a LEO is talking to you (after the fact). Usually at a traffic stop or while taking a report of robbery or burglary (or worse) at your residence/business.

Most of them will just hire bodyguards.

Perhaps someone is finally hearing that gun control is nothing more than taking legal weapons out of legal hands! If murder being illegal is not enough to stop a lunatic from killing, stricter gun laws wont do it either. To bad Pelosi can't get that through her thick skull.
