Obtaining a CHL early... perhaps?

Post by JHB »

Hello all,

First off I'm new. I like the forums and have looked over some very informative threads thus far.

However, I do have one question. I am 20 years old, soon to be 21. Can I take the course and take the test prior to turning 21 so I will be able to carry asap after my birthday? Any and all information is welcomed.

Thanks in advance,

Welcome to the forum.

You can take the course before your 21st birthday, but you have to be 21 years old on the day that you sign one of the affidavits. One of the points that you affirm is that you are legally able to buy a handgun under federal law. You have to be 21 to do that.

The exception is if you are in the military.
