Glock on a Diet

Post by KFP »

With the ammo shortage, my Glock is looking more lean these days.

I asked Dale Hunnicutt to make some modifications to the grip of my G 30 and add some texture to improve my grip on it. I haven't had a chance to get it out to the range, but it seems to point much better for me and the grip is perfect. Needless to say, I'm a happy customer and would highly recommend his services.

If you don't mind my asking how much was it and how long did it take? I was thinking of having some of the swell taken out of the back strap of my G36. I don't need the texture I use a Brooks Tactical A-Grip against my baby soft skin.

$125 is a flat fee for any texturing and grip reductions and I had mine back exactly one week from shipping it off. I had him do a carry texture on the sides, and more aggressive texturing on the back and front strap. I'm not sure if you're near Houston often, but he lives in Tomball.

Thanks for the info KFP! Now all I have to do is decide if I'm going to keep it or not. I think a grip reduction may just help with that.

I can attest to Dale's excellent work. I met him at a local show. I brought my XD lower (funny to say that)to that show the next day. He did a grip reduction, added a magwell, a hybrid texture to the grip (I had my hands traced in shooting position around the grip with a sharpee--what a great dear wife) and it is like a new gun! I also added an extended mag release (south paw). After some research, I found a great video on how to remove the stock release without fully taking out the pin.

ROK, you had your hand traced on the grip itself so he would know how much to take off???

FYI a grip reduction doesn't necessarily mean a reach reduction - the distance from the backstrap to the trigger.

Sorry, I have been in Atlanta for a few days (GREAT TEA PARTY, though, I missed seeing Ted at SA's) .

The tracing was more to show where I wanted the varying grip textures to begin and end. I had the texture on the front of the grip a bit more gritty than on the back for quicker seating. It just 'locks' into my hand now. I already knew that I wanted the reduction. He had several which he showed for fit and feel at the gun show.
