Getting shot with a .380...just a minor annoyance :)

If I got shot with my .380 or anyone else's .380, that would be a major annoyance...to me. In fact, I'd be extremely upset to say the least.

Am I mistaken or didn't James Bond use a .380? And look at all the big bad guys he put down with it! And some times from quite a distance! It MUST be shot placement!

... something I think we CHLs might take away from it. (I'm launching into another one of my diatribes, so immediately jump to the next post if inclined. FWIW, I've been working on and off again for a few months on a book about defensive shooting, and that's why these subjects sometimes trigger me (pun intended) into long, pedantic posts. Sorry.)

Skiprr, I for one found your post very worthwhile. All of this tactical decision making and style of shooting practice is something I need a lot more work on myself. The two handguns calibers I carry most often are almost universally regarded as underpowered (.380 ACP & .38 Special) and both are fired from 2-inch or shorter barrels (back up guns to most LEO types). I am range proficient with both, and have practiced some rudimentary tactical situations with each. But the idea of hitting a moving target while I am also moving presents quite a challenge to me at this point. I've known for a long time that I need some more serious tactical training, something I'm hoping to resolve soon. At this point, I would not be comfortable "confronting" a threat with either gun and think of both more as last resort defensive weapons if I am cornered (like a good knife with a longer reach).

I find your point about last resort interesting. When we think about it, any use of any handgun is pretty much a last resort action.

Actually, I think in the early stories he was carrying a Beretta .25 and sometime later upgraded to a Walther PPK in .32ACP.
