Bug-Out Starter Kits @ Costco

Post by pbwalker »

Ran across these the other day and thought it was strange to see @ Costco. I'm curious if anyone has used these or has seen them before. Decent starter pack?

I'm guessing they are catering to the Hurricane prone areas, but this is San Antonio...(not that we're immune, but we're not as 'at risk' as a coastal area)

Wow, 275 servings of food in the second one.
I think I'll have to pick up some of these. not necessarily because of imminent disaster, mind you, but because you just NEVER KNOW...

my bug out bag rations consist of a big ole box of peanut butter crackers from sams. I think its got 48 servings in there. 1 or 2 of those a day will last me for almost a month.

I noticed about the food that it only last 20 years if stored at 60 degrees and 10 years if @ 70. Since most places in a home will be from 75 to 80+in Texas at any given time I wonder how that works? Take 10 years off for every 10 degrees higher than 60 and at 80 it is only good for....NOW. :confused5

Costco delivers... It's under "Shipping and Terms"
Standard shipping via UPS Ground is included in the quoted price. The estimated delivery time will be approximately 7 - 10 business days from the time of order.

LOL, are these the same boxes that were pulled from the stores a couple of months ago due to salmonella? I had to take some back to Sam's because of the recall on my lot.

I have some crackers at the house for hurricane reasons, but I would never let that be my only source of nutrition. Just food for thought.

well if I get salmonella I get it. I eat so many peanut butter crackers at college and on the road that if it was going to happen it would have already. Besides, I've got a cast iron stomach.

But the peanut butter crackers are just to get me somewhere safe and that shouldn't take long. If i had to I would kill a deer or something.

Picked up one of the $75 buckets-O-food. Shipping is included in the price (UPS Ground). I figure if I can get at least 5 years out of it, it would be worth it. In a survival situation I'm sure it would still be edible even after a few years of storage in mid 70 degree temp...it might just not taste as good. Good find thanks for posting!!

The price is only good thru 5/3 and then it goes up $10.

I ordered the food kit and the family emergency kit.
Best deal I've found on long-term storage food. that stuff is pricy!
Off course, this is all vegetarian stuff. ick.

But if we got to the point of needing it, we could probably find some feral hogs or deer to supplement it.
Or just pull from that Bugout Freezer ;-)
