I recall the picture of the Texas LEO saved from a shotgun blast by the mags in his mag holder.

Underwire in bra deflects bullet aimed at Detroit woman
April 23, 2009
Article from: Reuters
A 57-YEAR-old Detroit woman avoided serious injury when the underwire on her bra deflected a bullet shot at her from next door, police said.
The woman, who lives on the West side of Detroit, saw a group of men breaking into a neighbour's house on Tuesday morning. When the men spotted her, one of them fired a shot at her, a police spokesman said.
The bullet struck the underwire on the woman's bra and that saved her from a more serious injury, police said.
"It did slow the bullet down," said Detroit police spokesman Phillip Cook.
"She sustained injuries but they're not life threatening."
The woman, who was not identified, was treated at a nearby hospital. The suspects in the shooting drove away.

So that thing that Madonna used to wear earlier in her career was some sort of bulletproof vest?

And I thought it was like a tin foil hat.

Must have been a heavy duty underwire and / or small caliber.

Not neccesarily. Bullet trajectories can be very tricky when they strike an object. Many a hunter has had their rifle bullet deflected by small tree branch.Pete92FS wrote:Must have been a heavy duty underwire and / or small caliber.

Don't I know it! I missed a really nice buck this last season when a 150 grain PSP from my .30-30 deflected just over his neck after it bored through a 1/2 inch thick Live Oak branch. This was at only 75 yards. Had I taken the lung shot, he would be in the freezer. But I got lazy and didn't want to track him, as it was near dark.WildBill wrote:Not neccesarily. I used to think I needed a high-powered rifle when hunting deer in Missouri. The longest shot I ever would have from my stand was maybe 75 yards. I read an article on shotgun slugs vs. high velocity rifle ammo and how a slower heavy slug would not deflect like a rifle bullet. I soon realized that the slower heavy slug had a lot more mass and would break through a tree branch so went to using that in brush!UpTheIrons wrote:Don't I know it! Here is a good test similar to what they showed in one of the magazines I read years ago http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot40.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
