Waco Trip

I will be going to Waco next weekend for a tennis tournament. Does anyone know if there is a posting at the Waco Regional Tennis & Fitness center for the 30.06 signage? Mostly interested in the parking lot area. Thank you.

Yes I routinely check the site at Texas 3006. Nothing listed that I found. Google street view map does not show the parking lot entrance. so asking here if anyone in the area has driven by and seen one.

If you have any free time from your already-planned activites:

1. The Texas Ranger Museum is a must-see in Waco. They have a
variety of interesting items in there, including weapons that the Texas
Rangers used to kill Bonnie & Clyde in Louisiana.

2. Some years ago Sugarland, Texas engaged a construction firm associated
with Daniel Frishberg, who owns BizRadio (1160AM, Dallas; nnnn AM in Houston,
San Antonio, and Austin). A massive re-do of Sugarland has revitalized that town.
Then Waco contacted Frishberg and wanted the same kind of a re-do.
The City of Waco provided 17 acres of downtown land to Frishberg and his
associates for the princely rent of $10 a year for 80 years.
When finished, Waco should also enjoy increased sales taxes from the extra
traffic that will come to the downtown area.

Can't help with specifics of the club, sorry. Odds are, however, even if the club itself is posted, since the parking lot is sure to be open to the public I'd personally feel confident that it won't be posted and I'd at least have one in my Center of Mass lockbox in the car.

BTW, best of luck and wishes for good weather! Playing at 4:30 on Thursday ain't too bad because I assume it allows you an easy drive in the morning of, but it looks like all the matches in your section start then. It's been so long since I've been able to play, I recognize only a few of the names in the draw. I have played Russell Holt before, though: first round of the Mabry in New Braunfels years ago on a morning that was 46 degrees with 15 to 20mph winds on severely cracked outer courts at Newk's (Have those courts been resurfaced? I swear there were half-inch cracks in 'em that would catch a ball and do very strange things to it). Holt played steady and took no chances, I tried to hit through the wind...and he won in straight sets.

But you have a tough first round yourself. You didn't catch one of the four seeds, but you did manage to catch the guy who would have been next in line for a seed if the draw were larger. Looks like Manuel is actually tied with Harlan Hopchick, number four seed, for 12-month rolling points.

Hey thanks and I suspect yes good for the parking lot and is all I wanted. As for the tennis. Yeah, been out of the tournament runs for almost two years now. I don't recognize the name. But I am wanting to go back and travel the tournaments again. Mostly still playing singles in the tournaments but play with a bunch of guys in doubles. Lately not playing enough to get my head straight for matches. So playing this one for the head alignment before going to Austin on Memorial weekend. the knee surgery and wrist tears are doing OK again. I can actually run again, even if I do look like Forrest Gump with the braces on both legs. I still play 4 plus hours at a time without a break.

Play most weekends with Dave Camp, Lucky Frazier, Eino Olivares and several others. Many are in this tournament. Then Wednesdays with some good players, some in their mid thirties like Ben Minter, Roberto Mulchan and others. So I get a good work out. Just need to do the practice and play under pressure again. Was back to my 12 hours a week until three weeks ago so that hurt me. Was going to try and find a partner for the 55 doubles cause they were missing players but now they have some. Camp is playing with Vic Diamond. I know Harlan, yes I lucked out. Played Russell a few times. I know Manual too. Whole group is strong. But mostly once I play I will visit with my daughter who lives up that way. What ticks me and Dave and others off is the one match a day thing. Some of us still work! I can go more matches aday, no problem. the surgery and injections in the knees really got me moving better again. Wrist I tape and is healed fairly well now. Course my old eyes still suck at tracking. I see fine, just not fast enough. I will die on the court probably.

So fill me in on who this is? Sorry I don't recognize.

Yes I have gone through the rangers museum a few years back and Dr. Pepper plus the sports museum. Back when I played both levels and seniors tournaments. Then I averaged 19 tournaments a year. Then the injuries. But yes all of those are great to go to and I recommend as well.

No, this has nothing to do with school and is not a professional event. Plus I am not carrying into the tennis facilities. Only concerned with parking lot. I will leave it in the car. Thanks.
