Interviewed by local station

Post by flb_78 »

I moderate a site http://www.amarillogunowners.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and the owner was contacted by a local new station. They found out about his site and wanted to interview him. He called me up with about 3 hours notice, while I was at work, and asked me to join him. I left work early and met up with Robbie and we proceeded to the station. They asked him several questions that I wish I could have answered and only asked me a couple. :cryin

anywho, here's what aired Sunday night in Amarillo.

Good job.

Good interview.

Let's hope the "Concerned Citizen" that was interviewed never has to wait for the police to respond if he ever gets in a situation because they'll probably be too late.(Not a slam against you LEO's out there).

We aren't going to win over anyone acting like raving, armed lunatics. No wonder the guy wants his identity hidden.

Responding calmly and credibly as responsible gun owners makes a much better impression to the uniformed public and may win over those who simply don't have enough information about guns in general.

I've "had it out" with "Concerned Citizen" a few times... Nothing rude, no bashing, just trying to have a intelligent conversation. I better rephrase that, I tried to have a intelligent conversation with him.. It's impossible to talk to this guy. He feels that only people who live outside the city limits should own firearms. He feels that the police are the only ones who should be allowed to protect anyone. Along with several other views.. I've spoke with him rationally, provided stats, links, you name it.. He did budge a bit though. At first it was that nobody should own firearms, but after a few days it changed to "only people outside the city limits should own firearms".... He feels that even if it takes 5 minutes for the police to arrive, thats more than enough time to save a life, stop a thief, etc...

You cannot have a conversation with this guy, he's like a broken record player. Just says those same things over and over and over. He cant give you any reason's why he feels this way, he wont, he just says it all over again. He mentioned that the 2nd, was out of date, when I asked him why he felt that way and to give me a few examples, his next post was the broken record thing again.. This is why he gets bashed, which isn't right, but KVII doesnt mention the comments he's made on the site either. Most of which are as bad as he receives.

I was wondering when KVII would have a story about this, and that guy. The site blows up when this guy makes a comment. I gave up a long time ago trying to talk to him, some people are just set in their ways..

I haven't visited amarillogunowners.com in quite a while, I'm glad to see that people are taking notice..

I don't have any problem with people who don't like guns and want to rely on the police to protect them. However, I tell them I do have a problem when they want to force their opinions on me. I don't want to put my life in the hands of anyone else (except my husband who is a better shot). If he wants to believe that the police will be there for him, cool, survival of the fittest.

I do have issues with the ones that don't choose to carry, know I do, and think I will protect them.

:iagree:
Exactly. You don't have to carry a gun if you don't want to. I should be able to if I want to. Leave it at that, neighbor!
