Hello
Are there any home insurance implications for CHL holders? Do I need to inform my home insurance company that I own a handgun? When I got a shotgun they said that was fine and that as long as the value of the guns didn't exceed $2500 then there were no implications but other people have told me they had to take out additional insurance to cover $1M liability.
Am I best to contact the insurance company again? I know I don't need tell them I currently waiting on my CHL but is it better to tell them in any case?
Any advice welcomed.

Re: Home Insurance question
The $2,500 sounds like a limit on theft of individual firearms. You might need to take
a special rider to cover more expensive or multiple firearms. The 1 mil sounds like
an umbrella policy. It's none of their business whether you have a CHL or not.
Keep that info to yourself.

Re: Home Insurance question
The 1mil umbrella policy is not expensive - like less than $200/year.
With a little luck, no one will fall of of your porch, your dog or kid won't bite anybody, you'll miss whomever you're shooting at, no dinner guests will get food poisoning, etc., etc.. Did I mention your swimming pool or taking a friend fishing or for a ride in your car?
Naaah, you may never need it.

I'm not an insurance salesman but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express.
