This is a story i'm not proud of

Post by USA1 »

i debated whether or not to even tell this story, but , well you dont know who i am, so here it goes, judge me if you want to.
the year was 1980 something . i was 16 years old . a typical teen with an attitude looking for trouble. one day a friend and i were walking through a parking lot of a grocery store when this car came driving by and did not yield to us. neither did we yield to the car. he was going pretty slow but the front bumper made contact with me. well that was it, i was going to confront the guy behind the wheel, i noticed he was a much older gentleman, probably 60 something. this was going to be great. as i walked to the drivers door, i was cursing and threatening him.i started kicking his door, and what happened next changed my life.

the man was visibly frightened, and that made me feel like a bigshot until he reached down and and pulled up what was the biggest gun i have ever seen. some kind of a revolver. i found myself looking down that giant barrel and almost soiled my parachute pants (remember ,it WAS the 80`s ).suddenly i felt like a little kid wanting his mommy. my demeanor changed in an instant. i was was apologizing and backing away with my hands up.i could not get out of there fast enough ! he drove away, but left me with a valuable lesson. i want to be just like that old man.

i have grown up since then. i help little old ladies cross the street.

We all have life changing experiences and we all did dumb things when we were younger.

There were two directions you could have gone after that day. You obviously were raised right because you took the correct path.

Just remember that when your own kids screw up. :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA:

i am proud to say my kids were raised to do the right thing. after seeing what kids do these days i feel very fortunate.
example : my son is 16 now and we enjoy going to the range together amongst other things. thats a far cry from how i was at his age.

I think you should be proud of your story. Boot Hill and the penitentiaries are full of people who didn't learn a lesson when they had a change. Thanks for sharing.

Good to see you learned from your experience and went in the right direction.

What was your friend doing while this was going on?
