CHL Application Issue - Military APO Addresses

Post by dicion »

Hey all,

I just remembered about an Issue I had when applying for my CHL.

I did the online application & payment thing, where you fill out all your info online, and pay, and then they send you the packet with the white sheet already filled in.

My issue was that in the 'past employers' part of the online application, they asked for the Address of your place of employment.
I was stationed in Belgium for a period of time what was covered in the 'past 5 years' section, and as such, my official squadron's address was an APO address.
The online application had NO WAY possible to enter an APO address. It Rejected it every which way I tried.

I called DPS on it, and the lady told me to 'put anything to make it go through, you can change it later when we send you the packet'.
What I ended up doing was putting DFAS's address in Colorado (as that is where my LES's were addressed from  )

So I recieved the packet which had the white sheet, with your info, address, drug and criminal stuff, and the option to adjust it, however, it had nothing about my past employment information I entered online. The lady was incorrect, I Could NOT change that information in the packet they sent me.

So when I entered it, there was no way to enter any sort of APO address into the online application system, for employment address.

For a system that probably has a LARGE number of veteran applicants, This is a big problem, and I'm suprised noone else has ran into it sooner.

I hope this doesn't cause a problem with my application, as I am still waiting on it. I have not recieved anything in the mail about any problems... yet...

Edit: Edited the title of the thread to make it easier to search for later if/when someone else has the same problem.
