The only Rugers I've ever owned was a .22 standard inherited from my dad and a GP100 I carried for a couple of years before my department approved semi-autos and I switched to a Berreta 92F. The GP100 was considered a revolutionary revolver at the time and I loved the fact that there wasn't a leaf spring anywhere in it.

It was beefy and reliable, but the trigger was nasty. I had some work done to polish the action up, but it was still a pretty hefty pull, and a weaker after-market spring proved to be a bad idea as it sometimes failed to bust a primer...had to put the original back in.

Shot my brother's p95 a few times...very reliable but ugly trigger pull again.

Ruger makes great guns for their price range, and they've always been innovative, mostly in ways to maintain moderate quality while cutting manufacturing costs.

The above is all IMO, of course. I haven't tried any of their recent offering, like the polymer framed revolver.

It'll be interesting to see what they unveil tomorrow.

I am a HUGE Ruger fan and can't wait to see what it next. Almost as fun as Christmas morning. :-)

my dads ruger blackhawk .45 is a beast. I love that revolver. If I could find a way to conceal carry it I would, and if open carry ever becomes legal I might just have to strap it on my hip once or twice a year and parade around town. lol

oh and as to whats next I hope its a titanium LCP in .45

I own a Ruger M77 MkII All Weather bolt rifle in .308 Winchester. I bought it used with a funky Bushnell scope on it. The scope is still there. It will shoot 1"-1.5" groups at 100 yards pretty easily. The best group I ever shot with it was about .75", but it has such a light barrel that heats up so fast, it's hard to maintain that kind of accuracy.

The range was downhill and I had a tailwind.

Anyway, while it isn't a truly fine rifle, it is a good, solid, rugged, and dependable lightweight field rifle. I'm sure the Ruger semi-autos are good guns, but they look like they took a beatdown from the queen of ugly. The revolvers are pretty nice though. I like my Smiths, but I wouldn't be opposed to a GP100 or something like that.

I think TxD brilliantly embedded the probable truth in there without making it obvious.

My bet: Ruger is entering the AR market with new mechanics that do not use the standard Stoner gas system.

But that's just my uninformed guess...

Ruger semi-auto pistols have always looked overly bulky for what they do. Their big revolvers seemed to have a reason for being bulky, with what they shoot. I do like the SP-101 the best out of the bunch (altho I have signed myself up to buy a couple Colt Cobras instead ). The seemed to have hit homeruns with their 10/22 and the mini-14s.

Given the Ruger design parameters of "let's make it solid and to heck with the looks" they should do a Ruger version of an Evil Black Rifle, since everyone else has -- except Ruger should of course make it a RAK-47...

I'm thinkin' not a Mini-14 remake but a new, for Ruger, AR-15 with a variant piston-operated system. I'd also bet they do make extensive use of Tupperware in both upper and receiver. Announcement will come at the opening of the NRA Annual Meeting in Phoenix. But I'm guessing wildly; I really don't know anything.

My Ruger P90 becomes everyone's favorite as soon as they fire it. Well, except the wife. She'll fire a black powder revolver with 1 1/2 load but thinks the .45 jumps... LOL
