We had a shooting competition between military/civilian/fed cops and at the competition I met a captain in the Air Force who had a double stacked para 1911 with a desert tan finish and a bunch of laser engravings on it with his unit, the security forces shield and some other things on it. I inquired about it and he told me someone put together a special order for him and his unit while he was in Iraq.
He also said he was trying to get a order together for some of the gulf coast units and asked if I was interested. I didn't have time to gather all the details but the next order was going to be similar to his; match grade barrel, 4-5# trigger, desert tan finish, 5 14 rd .45acp magazines and I think that's about it. Now he said the price was going to be around $800 and it sounds like a pretty good deal based off of the prices I could find online.
I have a 1911 already its a Les Baer Concept III and it shoots like a dream, so I am trying to figure out if there is a place in the collection for another one. Also, as i told my wife, Fathers Day IS next month...
Anyone have any experience with the para double stacks? I have heard mixed reviews, any input would be appreciated.
***P.S. I finished second in the competition out of about 30 shooters.***

Re: To Para or not to Para...
Just my opinion... If I had a Les Baer, I think I'd skip the Para.
Re: To Para or not to Para...
I have a Para and I like it a lot, but it is a small model, not one of the double stack versions.

I have an older Para 14.45 LDA limited I got from another texachlforum member. I love the high capacity and the way it shoots. I would probably be happy with the Les Baer, but for that price I would jump on the deal, if you do not like it you could sell and probably get more than you paid for it.
