So, what did everyone end up Getting? I saw some good deals, and some not so good deals.
Looks like 'evil black rifles' have come back down in price a bit, there were PLENTY there. No shortage of stock evident.

I ended up picking up the Only Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II I saw at the entire show (got the display model), a RRA Lower, and a 10/22 for plinking :)

There was plenty of ammunition there for those who could afford it. The rule seemed to be 2-3 times Walmart and Academy's prices.

Not that I saw any being sold, but the most outrageous prices I recall were $60 per box for Magtech .380 and $70 per box for Federal .380.

I picked up a mint condition, long discontinued Taurus 450 snub in .45 Colt that I have searched for for many years.

I was riding with a dealer friend, so this morning was too rushed to check the forum for LT's post. Probably unknowingly rubbed shoulders with many of you today, since I was there from 8 until about 6:30.

Maybe we need name tags, or maybe badges!!

We could get Texas "CHL" badges, and tape a piece of paper to the bottom of the badge that says "forum" on it

Oh geez, not the CHL Badge again.. "rlol"

Yes, ammo was insane. Didn't buy any there at all for that specific reason.

I ended up going yesterday afternoon. I'm sorry I missed longtooth and others.

The show was a mixed bag. Ammunition prices were absurd. The majority of the modern firearm & accessory prices were up from last year but not obscenely. ARs are coming back under $1k. Non-window PMAGs were plentiful at $15. Name brand knives were similar to online prices. A 2"x2" piece of fudge was $5 and there were multiple jerky vendors. Plenty of costume jewelry tables. There was even a shamwow vendor!

I didn't see any fantastic deals but I picked up three $15 PMAGs (Brownell's is $13.95 but back ordered) and a Ruger Charger for $271 OTD. I bought a brick of Remington 22LR at Walmart today for less than half the gun show price.

You'll LOVE the Charger!

I bought mine used and shot it this weekend. With a Redhead reddot sight at 100 yards, it repeatedly hit the 10 ring with basic cheap .22 LR brick ammo. Can't wait to see how it does with match ammo.

I did buy some personal defense ammo.
Speer GD Law Enforcement. 2 - 50 rd boxes were 49.95. Cant find any PD ammo here for $1.00 - a bang. Academy has been out for a while.
I did find some 9mm PD a couple of weeks ago.

Agree that the most of the ammo was too high.
Guns seemed to be reasonable at most of the venders.
I did not look at the eats, jewlery, etc.....

Had a GREAT time there.

I finally made it to the show yesterday morning. Ammo prices were indeed out rageous but since I really needed a large quantity of ammo for an class next weekend, I caved and bought 500-rounds of 40S&W. Aside from the Krav Maga class I attended Saturday, yesterday's ammo purchase truly hurt.

In oddball news, the BATFE had agents posing as staff for one or more FFL dealers. It was part of an attempted sting of straw buyers. Don't know if they managed to catch any violators. The ATF was also actively verifying NFA compliance for individuals in posession of items covered by NFA rules. A friend told me he thought the word was out among potental scofflaws and people of questionable immigration status. Thinking back on it, I too noticed a conspicuously small contingent of gang-bangers.

The only "cool" stuff I got was another G34 to replace one I retired at the end of '07. I did see some neat lights from a company called JetBeam...They had a 700-lumen LED powered light that only cost $159! I couldn't bring myself to buy it. However, a buddy bought their $69, 2-cell light that had strobe and SOS flash capability. The light wasn't quite as well sealed as a surefire but, it seemed quite serviceable. His new light's beam is just as uniform but seems tighter than my much more expensive Surefire E2D LED Defender. Light bezels on these lights were also interchangeable and cost only $10. The major downside is, the products and the vendors, were quite obviously made in China.
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.
