i don't agree with open carry, despite my hypocritical self doing it everyday at work.

on the other hand, i don't really care for a whole lot of gun control either. i think it should really be common sense.

If I have to make a decision then I would have to say no. I'm not opposed to open carry (even though I wouldn't do it myself), and it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see civilians with Glocks attached to their hip, but I tend to believe that legalizing open carry would backfire on us and actually lead to MORE restrictions on carry rather than less.

If there were no such consequences then I would, without a doubt, be for it (even though I STILL wouldn't do it myself).

Back on topic, every law abiding citizen should have the right to carry thier weapon in any manner that they see fit. I wouldn't care is soumeone was walking down the street with a S&W 500 strapped to one hip, shotgun slung around thier back, and a Glock on the other hip. As long as they are not harming others or using the weapons for nefarious purposes, It doesn't bother me.

One of the things I have observed in "other" States that allow "open carry" mainly deal with determining those "off-limits" facilities or premises...There are a few States that have yet to completely get used to the idea of seeing ordinary citizens carrying firearms openly...

Thats one of the misunderstandings I hope "txinvestigator" and I have worked out...Its that "growing up" term I used to illustrate a deficient "general" public attitude towards this issue...

I see what you are saying about that situation...Of course someone carrying a rifle and bandolears of additional ammo would probably make me a bit concerned in seeing that...

Thats why I mentioned the "disturbing the peace" clause that "could" be used against you if they choose to do so...Open Carry law or not...

Once again I value the input from both sides of the issue, I just believe that if it could happen in this State, we need to be up to speed on all facets of the issue...

Seeing and understanding how other States have handled this can and will help us if our State government decides to entertain this subject...

It looks like you could fare out the averages on the Yes and No of the poll to be about 75% for, and 25% against...

But I could summize that the 25% would not oppose the amendment, just not choose to do so for (in my opinion) very logical/tactical reasons...

Your point is well taken, but what is enough hardware?

For example, I have two friends that couldn't be more different. One carries a 44mag revolver on one side, a glock 10mm on the other, and a back up in his front pocket with reloads for each. The other carries just a Beretta jetfire in .25 in his pocket and considers himself adequately armed. It is all subjective. What is enough gun for an individual is as different as each individual.

It isn't much different that one person being satisfied with a plain stock Toyota Corolla and another having to have the Cadillac Escalade with all the options.

If open carry was legal and I saw someone walking down the street with a rifle and bandolears of additional ammo I would just think he is a little weird. Kind of like the kid driving the Honda Civic with the extra loud mufflers that sounds like a weedeater on steroids.
