The Fort Worth "Startlegram" imagines a reason to oppose campus carry. They're trying too hard.

How about those parents from NY or Stockhome saying to their children
"God to Texas School & have the fun of learning to shoot a gun that you cannot even legally hold in your home town.
2 yrs ago at the PSC forum day I saw that take place w/ a young lade that was from Canada I think. She had a wonderful time.

Both comments posted on the paper's web site were more logical than the article. Way to go!

Re: Star Telegram: their "reasoning" against campus carry

Seriously? Are you really concerned about attracting students and professors from NY, CA or Stockholm...or are you just trying to find a new angle from which to challenge a second amendment issue you oppose?
Having lived in both NY and CA, I can assure you that we Texans hold other opinions that are not "universally shared" by residents of those places (or Stockholm for that matter). To extend your logic, do you believe that we should alter other principles as well? Or does your inclination to accommodate presumed regional biases extend only to firearms?
I have friends from a variety of cultural/geographic environments. They are who they are, and I am who I am. If I want someone to visit my home, I'll make sure they know they're welcome and appreciated. But I don't abandon my convictions to attract them.

Ahh editorials. The opportunity to be a total d-bag and not catch any flak. Figures.
Re: Star Telegram: their "reasoning" against campus carry
Honestly, that has to be one of the dumbest editorials I've ever read - which is saying a lot given the current state of "official" newspaper opinions.
The two points - campus carry vs. increasing tier 1 universities - are not mutually exclusive and actually have next to nothing to do with each other.

I'd say that they were, in fact, complimentary!austinrealtor wrote: The two points - campus carry vs. increasing tier 1 universities - are not mutually exclusive and actually have next to nothing to do with each other.
Campus Carry would increase safety. Therefore making the university a 'better' university in that regard, then say, one in California...
IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.
