DFW to BHM & the "Redneck Riviera" w/ CHL

Took the wife on a business/vacation trip this past week, flew AA out of DFW to Birmingham, AL, got a rental car and did some business in AL and then shot down to Mobile, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Perdido Key, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, etc. for some R&R. First time to fly with a CHL. Followed the info that was posted in various threads on this site along with the TSA and AA regs. Absolutely zero issues. To make sure I was armed with correct info I visited both the AL & FL government CHL/CFP/CWP sites and printed out their rules, read them, etc. Some interesting rules...and from what I remember about AL, $1 per year...! Unless I missed the mention of additional fees elsewhere.

I'm glad to hear the trip went well and there were no issues. The one and only time I flew with my handgun was last year to Virginia and while there weren't any real issues, the TSA guy in Virginia must have thought I was declaring 5kg of coke. It's funny to think about it...now.

I'll have to read the rules about carrying in those states. One that I remember about Virginia is that you must switch to open carry if you walk into a bar.
