Great Article in Parade Magazine - Take the Poll

Post by joe817 »

This is a good read. Please take the poll and be surprised at the results!

Hint: VERY favorable to us.

While the poll may be pro RKBA, the article's closing quote below is the usual anti-gun drivel:
"We have the equivalent of a Virginia Tech massacre every day in this country. It's just not all in one place," says Daniel Webster of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research. "It's what happens when a person gets mad and has easy access to a gun. Someone is shot over a game of dice. Had the gun not been in their hands, no one would have died."

There are currently more than 11,500 each year, and America has one of the world's highest firearm homicide rates. Per capita, our rate is 39 times greater than that of England, 13 times Australia's, and
6 times Canada's.
I took that as a highly biased article. I would have to disagree on the assessment of it being "great".

For example, what is wrong with the quote above?

I cannot disagree with you there, but can also say about the closing sentence: if not a gun, then a knife . If not a knife, then a club, if not a club, bare hands.

I was referring to the poll results. But point well taken. Thanks!

"Texas may welcome guns into bars. "

Where did they get this? I've never heard of such a thing. And just being a member of this forum, I tend to follow such issues closer than the average bear.

Overall the piece was biased anti-guns, though only slightly. But the poll results are nice to see.

I agree that the title of the Topic is misleading. It isn't a great article; it is, as typical, about 90% anti-gun propaganda.

Pro-RKBA responses have always seemed to dominate these types of informal online polls. Certainly better than the alternative, but I believe people who are not 2A advocates have come to just ignore them. I have yet to see a news stringer summarize and publish the results.

OK _ double negatives always mess me up....

Yes Doug, I agree. I picked up that double negative talk from the CHL laws. :smilelol5:
"...does not disallow". I forget which section it's in, but it's in there several times.

My only complaint about that article is that I have yet to see a woman, that good looking, dressed like that at any range I've ever been to. Kinda makes me want to go to the range more often in case I'm missing something.

Geez...

Oh, wait! I know a woman who shoots regularly at Thunder Range and PSC in Houston who can show you what you've been missing! 'Cause she seldom does...

Obviously you never shot with my late wife and me.

If you really want to see a woman worth seeing at the range, you should have seen my daughter shooting .22 rifle, prone, about 7 months pregnant!

LOL

I would 've bet that shooting in the prone position was not possible at 7 months.

I was just remembering that the last several articles on guns that I've seen in the news or from links posted here have been done by women. And I know that most women (and men) in the media are going to be not bad to look at. Anyway, I wonder why more men have not done these type of articles. Do you think that they are trying to soften the piece up by using women or are none of these media "men" willing to do them?

I dunno... looks like a brass-catcher to me. If she had been going with me, I would have advised her to change into something with a higher neckline and a hat of some sort.

The way that blouse is cut, I'd bet she'll be branding parts that she'd rather not.
