:iagree: When I went to CHL Instructor renewal school in 2007, I walked into the fried chicken place next to the hotel. I was wearing a 5.11 vest I had bought at NRA HQ and it had the NRA logo. One of the other instructors who is also a LEO started laughing rather loudly. Then he said, "You guys amaze me; you wear a 5.11 vest and think we (presumably COPS) don't know you have a gun." My response, "You mistakenly think I care what you know or don't know." We wound up sitting next to each other in class and probably would have become friends, if we didn't live in different parts of Texas.

LT, I'm going to have to steal your Mom's vest idea; I really like it.

Chas.
Would this be the Texas version of Open Carry? :evil2:

Sorry. I couldn't help myself. "rlol"

Does not take a talor to do it. Just someone w/ a sewing machine & a little experience. I can actually do it myself. Mom does it in about a forth of the time though.
I don't want a him in mine, a her would be ok though...as long as it's my wife. "rlol"

I was traveling this weekend and the "Sky Mall" magazine had this Travel Vest. I just had to post and LT gave me the opportunity to share....

The Ultimate Gear Management Clothing

This newly streamlined all-season travel vest has 22 hidden no-bulge pockets and features the patented Personal Area Network (PAN) licensed from Technology Enabled Clothing TEC. This allows the wearer to route wires from personal electronics through a hidden conduit system. Without the clunky exterior pockets, you don't advertise that you're carrying valuables.
Now to get enough firepower to fill all 22 pockets!!

You need to sew about 16 of them closed!

I've got a vest with 22 pockets. Just 'cause you know where something is, doesn't mean you can get to it.

Also have 5.11. Some say they scream gun too. General public cant tell a 5.11 from the one in this picture & never thinks gun unless they see one.

I have two 5.11 vests that I have never worn....only tried on. I took the pads out of them and they are still too bulky/heavy with that bird pouch on the back!

If I ever go dove hunting again I will wear one then, but otherwise I will not wear them.

I have a couple of vests that are lightweight & look similar to a 5.11. They are pretty good, but the colors are not very good. Kinda too brown on one and kinda mustard look on the other. Both were bought in Morocco where practically every taxi driver wears one. Not bad though for about 20 bux each.

I found a really nice lightweight nylon vest designed for fishermen at Bass Pro Shops. It's extremely lightweight, just a bit shorter than the 5.11 variety, and drapes perfectly for good concealment. With a couple of fish pins or patches and a fishing ball cap, it doesn't attract any undue attention at all.

Has anyone seen a vest designed to be used as an alternative to a tool bag? Lot's of places for small parts and using hand tools?

To those of us that carry, a vest screams gun, Most people have no clue and some would not even see the gun if you open carried it. Most people are like sheep, they are socaught up in what they are doing that they have tunnel vision. They don't see anything that goes on around them.
