Vintage Weatherby Pron: Mark V

Post by doc540 »

It's my dad's Mark V in .270 Mag made in Howa, Japan sometime around 1986.

Vintage Redfield 3x9.8 Lo-Pro scope, but in its day he reached out and touched'em with it.

Pretty nice old gun considering he hunted with it for 20 years.

He asked me to sell it for him, so I'm working on getting a value on it.

Truly a beautiful piece. Can't help you on an estimate of value but you may want to check on gunbroker.com and my fav, auctionarms.com.

I can't believe you would even think of parting with that.

Well, celebrating Father's Day, sipping my coffee, I checked into actionarms.com, and found a somewhat comparable rifle as yours. It's not in near as good a shape and has no scope. Starting price is $1,275.....

Oh, that's exactly what I'm going to do per my dad's wishes.

It was made in the mid-'80's in Howa, Japan.

Any idea what it's worth? :headscratch

*sigh*. Ok, you should abide by your dad's wishes, I guess. Shame though.

doc, I honestly have no idea of a real world value....but I recognize quality and high value when I see such a rifle.
Please do some serious homework on it, and try to find current market value on it before you sell it. I'll be glad to help you if you'd like.

Are you in a hurry to sell it?

No hurry at all.

We took a trip to Baytown and back yesterday and the subject of guns came up. He just asked me to find out what his Weatherby was worth and help him sell it.

I said, "Yes, sir". :patriot:

Yizzer, I know well the term "yes sir". :txflag:

Ok, I'll add that to my watch list on auctionarms.com and see what pops up. Perhaps a few days. I'll let you know!

I think you should find out what it's worth, and give him the cash for it, selling it to yourself, and keeping it in the family.

I share your sentiment but not your bank account. ;-)

This one stays in the family with me.
