911 Raw: The Sound Of Hate

A shocking 911 call captu More..red a deadly home invasion and double murder, which, Arizona police say, was perpetrated by anti-illegal immigration extremists trying to raise money for their cause.

On May 30, in rural Arivaca, Ariz., three intruders, disguised as law enforcement officers, entered the home of Raul Junior Flores, 29. They shot and killed Flores and his daughter Brisenia Flores, 9. Flores' wife then called 911 when suddenly the intruders returned and fired into the home.

Flores' wife was shot, but she got a gun and fired back, wounding one of the assailants. The wife's name is not being released at this time.

Amazingly, much of the exchange was caught on the 911 call.

Police believe three people connected to a hardline anti-illegal immigration group, the Minutemen American Defense, are behind the attack and were motived by the belief that Flores sold drugs and would have money to steal. Police say the trio hoped to use the stolen money to fund the operations of the group.

Jason Eugene Bush, 34, Shawna Forde, 41, and Albert Robert Gaxiola, 42, have been charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and other charges, said Sheriff Clarence Dupnik of Pima County, Arizona.

Uggh, great, another bunch of wackos that will add fuel to the fire for that infamous "Rightwing Extremism Report." Let's see, we've already had:
  • An abortionist murdered at a liberal church
A shooting at a museum by a veteran (although he was anything but right-wing)
And now a slaying of illegal immigrants by (former) members of the Minutemen
I'm surprised this latest incident hasn't made the front page of the NYTimes. They've already been calling for all us to be rounded up. :grumble

Nothing in the article described the victims as "illegal immigrants". They may well have been legal immigrants or American citizens.

I hope they are put away for a long, long time.
Agreed. Bear in mind that many groups use the word "Minutemen" as part of their name. These groups may or may not have any association with the more commonly-known Minuteman Project.

I note these felons were "disguised as law enforcement officers".

What would you do if people who look like police broke into your house in the middle of the night?

This has actually been brought up in another thread. The "Minutemen" that conducted the home invasion are reported to have believed that the homeowners were drug dealers and that they could successfully rob them at gunpoint. I suppose that from a certain viewpoint its a good thing they were wrong about the Flores' being drug dealers, or they may have had a gun fight on their hands.

I fail to see how people that hold beliefs like those espoused by the people in the incidents mentioned by Clark can be classified as "Conservative" or "Rightwing." Violence isn't a value of either Conservatives or Libertarians, so far as I know, nor is murder.

The assigning of political orientation is solely an effort to color those who hold a conservative or libertarian viewpoint with guilt by association. It is more revealing of the political orientation of the author than of the perp.

Totally agree with you on this one. I'm more concerned about the "spin" that comes out of this and other incidents. I'm not having some identity crisis as a conservative or anything.

+1

Im a bit surprised. I was more concerned with the family and the fact that she had a gun available to defend herself, than whether or not the good name of the Minute Men had been tainted :(
