Beaumont woman claims self defense in shooting

Post by seamusTX »

A Beaumont woman reportedly shot another woman at a house party after someone hit someone with a wiffle bat. Reports vary on whether the shooter lived in the house and who was hit. This one says she lives there:
The woman who lives in the house on Monroe Street declined to go on camera but did tell me that the shots weren't fired at anyone in particular and unfortunately struck one of the people at the party.

She also says she was defending her home from what she believed to be a home invasion and not just an argument.

:banghead:

The "never again" here is that people hear something vague about the Castle Doctrine and think their home is a free-fire zone when anyone offends them. The media do not help, because they portray this type of law as legalizing homicide.

Don't even get me started about "warning shots."
