Suppressor in Storage

So I've got a suppressor (legally acquired of course) with my Form 4 and all. Well, I'm going away soon so I've got all my stuff being packed up in a storage unit, and my gun safe will be there shortly. The problem/question I have here is that the storage unit is in my father's name. So will he technically be considered to have possession of my suppressor? And will this cause any problems for my dad if something may ever come up where law enforcement finds a suppressor in his storage unit, even if accompanied by my Form 4?

I would think (and I could be horribly wrong) that if your suppressor was in the gun safe and only you knew the combo/had the keys, etc. then it would be fine being in your dad's storage unit (in the safe).

Which method did you use to apply for your form 4? Individual, trust or corporation? If you did it via trust or corporation, it is possible to amend the articles of formation to include another individual as an authorized official of said trust or corporation. So anyone operating under that "umbrella" is legal to be in possession of the item in question. If you went the individual route (which includes photos, prints and CLEO signature - I imagine it would be pretty tough in the DFW area), I'm not sure about legality. Possibly a written affidavit? Of course I should add a prefix and suffix to this advice with: IANAL.

maybe a bit off topic, but be sure to put a good supply of moisture absorbent pads in the safe if it's going to be sealed for a lengthy period of time.

It's an individual Form 4 in my sole name with photos and fingerprints etc. Yeah I stuffed five different types of dehumidifiers in there, and my little brother will be going once a month to recharge them.

Safes are pretty secure from the standpoint of legally restricting access.

IANAL, but even if someone else knows the combination, for legal consequences to occur the authorites would either have to a) catch someone else in the act of accessing it; or b) someone else would have to be caught in possesson of something (like a suppressor) that they shouldn't have; or c) someone else would have to admit they had access.

None of these are likely if the other person is a trustworthy family member and can keep their mouth shut.

If you're still worried, I suppose a lockbox that someone else didn't have the keys to could be put inside the safe . . . or for that matter, most suppressors will fit inside a safety deposit box.
