8 y/o Open Heart Surgery

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Day 2 in PICU, Joey is sitting up (not by choice - Dr's orders). Still tired and sleeping alot. The name of the game today is to keep the O2 Sats up, the blood pressure up and monitor the fluid coming out of his chest

Well today we hit a milestone. Joey has had the "A" and Central Lines removed and taken off all IV meds, in fact the only hooked up right now is his chest tube and we are on a full liquid diet. But he does have fluid on his lungs, his chest is still draining about 4x more than they want it to and this morning he started coughing up blood (however it was -for now- an isolated incident). He is still sleeping the day away and he is tired of being here already, can't say I blame him - I dont think I could deal with half of what he had to go through just in the last 3 days (let alone what he has already dealt w/ in the past). In a few minutes we get to move the 3rd floor of Methodist Children's here in San Antonio. Thank you for the thought and prayers, please keep them coming!

FIrst full day in the Surgical Inpatient ward, Joey has come around completely. He is more like himself today and progressively getting better. We still 2 hurdles to overcome. He is not eating the way he should be (they started bring solid foods), he has to be coexed (not sure if that is spelled right) to eat even just a small thing of apple sauce. He is also still having a problem with his O2 sats (he keeps dropping down to the high 70's low 80's on ambient air). Not out of the woods yet but he are so much closer. THANK YOU everyone for the thoughts and prayers Joey, Mom and I greatly appreciate it!

Its Sunday and Joey is still being a finicky eater (as if he needs an excuse to be that). The chest tube came out today. Joey was really scared, I think we all thought it was going to hurt alot....... but it didn't. He is really tired because they gave him some pain meds before to help. He is craving Chicken Nuggets so we are getting him some, lets see how that goes. Again, thank you for the prayers and thoughts they have really brought joey along way in short time. Who would think 4 days ago he was laying on a table with his chest wide open.
