Correct, that is what the website says, but I think they may be linked somehow, or maybe both are updated simultaneously by the same Application the people in Austin use to issue it.
In The other thread where the guy got busted for not having his CHL yet, the web page said 'License Active', however, he had not gotten it yet.
He got pulled over, and it said he had one in the Officer's Records. IIRC it had just changed on the website _that day_

So, I could print a color image of the license, both front and back. Would that be acceptable proof to continue carrying until one got replacement plastic?
Often wondered that meself... I also scan all documents (insur, passport, DL, CHL, etc), plus add the household inventory photos, to two jump drives that are kept in separate locations (bank and another undisclosed secure location) so that any document could be recoverable immediately in the event of some catastrophic occurance. Would seem that having a color true copy of something like a CHL might suffice until a replacement could be obtained - but I guess only TX DPS could answer that.

i still haven't gotten my drivers license plastic. If you go in person they will give you a temp, but you still need photo id to use it. I was told 6 weeks on the drivers license.

I would think that it would not pass muster, given the ease in which documents like that can be altered using certain computer programs. Heck I could scan my chl, cut out my picture, and replace it with any one that I wanted to.
