Keep Fighting
I saw this in another forum and thought this might be an useful example.
http://www.lawofficer.com/news-and-arti ... ifice.html#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As the article notes, the human body can take a lot of punishment and keep fighting. The BG here was hit multiple times by Gold Dot .45 including 6 to the torso, one to the thigh and two to the ankle almost severing it. The officer was hit in the head by a shot gun blast in which one or more # 4 pellets actually penetrated his skull. Yet both men kept fighting until the officer put a bullet in the BG's eye. No bullet from any rifle, shotgun or pistol is a guaranteed to stop the BG. So make sure you are ready to keep fighting even if shot.

but thats not how they show it in the movies and on TV
my favorite is the old westerns , where the guy would get shot , grab his wound , and drop like a fly .
oh , and there was never blood .

They were indeed. Where your neighbors were your best friends, and they didn't have to knock to come in....just walk in and announce themselves.

Re: Keep Fighting
How about a 12 gauge slug going in at 2:00 o'clock and coming out at 8:00 and the bad guy still got away and then turned himself him (lawyer in tow) a week later.
For me, this story ended the .45 vs.9mm argument. A 12 gauge slug is .72 caliber and if it didn't...

Recently, I read of a bad guy getting hit 17 times with various calibers (of law enforcement bullets, if you will) and kept fighting.

Re: Keep Fighting
Stories like this where the bad guys have taken huge number of bullets
was what convinced me to change from carrying only 1 spare magazine,
to carrying 2 spare mags on me. I used to keep magazine # 3 in my driver's
seat holster. But what good would that do me if I was away from the truck?
Plus we had a thread on the forum about how much ammo everyone carries.
My gun has 10 +1 capacity. Each spare mag = 10. Total rounds on me = 31.
Another reason to carry plenty of ammo is not just for zombie attackers like
the above story documents, but in the case of multiple BG's.
Y'all may wish to increase the amount of ammo you carry on your person.
Just like having a gun in the 1st place, it's always better to have it and not
need it, then need it and not have it.

I want to know why modern ammo is so weak?
All the movies I watch prove that back in the day a single 9MM round would lift a grown man off of his feet and chuck him 8-10 feet. DRT.
What happened, how come our current ammo is so weak?????

Re: Keep Fighting
Please understand that I mean no disrespect to anyone else's choices at all, but the truth is that the vast majority of gunfights don't last more than 3 or 4 rounds fired. This particular story, while holding valuable lessons for all of us in having a warrior spirit, fighting through fear and pain to dominate the fight and to win, is just not going to happen to most of us - even those of us who might be LEOs.
I carry a backup magazine in case I have a magazine malfunction, not because I expect to have to shoot through two or three magazine loads of ammo in a firefight. Would I use my weapon to defend the life of a third party? Most probably, yes. However, I don't see my role as being the one to carry the fight to the enemy. I'm not preparing for an assault up San Juan Hill. That's for paid police officers, not me. Even Jeanne Assam, the heroic security guard in the 2007 New Life church shooting in Colorado, fired 10 rounds from a pistol with a 15 round magazine, and she survived to win in a situation which even most LEOs won't have to confront during their entire career. In fact, the shooter shot himself to death in that case, after taking multiple hits from Assam's Baretta.
Some day, the "man bag" I ordered from Maxpedition will arrive, and then I might consider adding another extra magazine, because there will be little or no loss of convenience in doing so. In fact, when I went to the gym this morning, I just carried my USPc with one 12 round magazine inserted, and left the spare magazine on the dresser. I figured that 12 rounds ought to get me safely to and from the gym. From where I sit, carrying surplus magazines (meaning 2 or more extra mags) is kind of like carrying extra batteries for my flashlight. I expect to be home before dark, and I need to be able to get around without the extra weight pulling my pants down around my ankles. I almost never carry more than one extra magazine.
But thats just me.

Re: Keep Fighting
Mr. Annoyed, thanks for the reality check.
And I've also wrestled with the problem of carry at the gym.
For the most part I've locked mine in a locker while I worked out.
I tried carrying a P32 in my pocket, but I wasn't comfortable with that.
