Alcohol treatment,

Post by thatguychuck »

I did a search on the forum but the one listing didn't have much info, hopefully somebody out there can give some input.

So things were getting out of hand and I disclosed a drinking problem to my employer, went in for treatment, and everything went fine. Thought I'd use some of my newly found spare time to get my permit, but after looking into the laws it looks like I'm on the outs. The wording about getting a letter from a shrink looks like a little used afterthought and not too promising. I have no legal problems tacked onto this and it was all voluntary, but I was diagnosed with dependency and did attend inpatient treatment. If anyone has any firsthand experience with this, please share. It was rather disheartening to read, I was expecting to take the class on the 15th.

Welcome to the forum. Someone much brighter than I will be along to answer your question. We also have several CHL instructors on the forum, so just hang around.

In any event, you are to be congratulated for going through the treatment, even if you could have made do without. Maybe it was actually the best thing.

It looks like you have to wait five years after diagnosis or inpatient/residential substance abuse treatment unless you get a doctor's note.
