AUSTIN - The Texas State Rifle Association has officially relocated from Addison to Austin. As the state affiliate of the NRA celebrates its 90th anniversary, forty thousand registered members from across the state have two major developments to follow. Not only has our headquarters traveled south on I-35 from the metroplex to the Capital of Texas, but a new Executive Director has also been named to take the association forward.
Keeping abreast of Texas Second Amendment issues and developments from a city located in the geographic center of the state will be one obvious benefit to the change in location. Another will be the proximity to the Capitol itself, providing the TSRA with better accessibility to the law-making process and the political battlegrounds where the Second Amendment Rights of all Texans are either upheld or attacked.
But perhaps the bigger of the two developments is the addition of Mr. Charles L. Cotton as the new Executive Director. Mr. Cotton, an attorney and partner with the Cotton-Farrell law firm in Houston, has been a member of the NRA Board of Directors since 2001. He has also served as Vice-Chairman of the TSRA Legislative Committee, and been a long-time consultant with various sponsors of Second Amendment Bills inside the State Capitol building. A frequent contributor for radio, television and newspaper pieces covering self-defense laws and constitutional protections, Mr. Cotton has become one of the leading Second Amendment figures in all of Texas.
After experiencing the 2009 Legislative Session, the TSRA and our membership expect a renewed activism and enthusiasm on the part of our leadership, membership, and firearms owners across the state.
