:iagree:
thats what i did .

a cheap nylon holster from Academy with a thumb break is firmly attached under my truck seat .
its just out of view , but can easily be reached and drawn .
Same here. I think I spent $10 on the holster and maybe $5 on a bag of zip ties to secure the holster to the seat frame. In my case, the pistol fits firmly in the holster, so I don't use the thumb break. (Also, the open end of the holster is slightly elevated, so the gun would have to slide up-and-out which ain't gonna happen.)

Anywho, I only use that on long trips where hip-carry would be uncomfortable. For short trips, I just keep it on the hip as I don't like to draw from one and re-holster in the other any more than I have to.

Wilderness Safepacker.....you can get very creative with it for car use.

Yep. Mine was just delivered yesterday by the Big Brown Truck of Happiness.

Do you guys usually pull it out of your holster and drop it in the center console or glove box or does it stay in a holster?

If hoster, is it a different holster for the glove box?
My current preference is to leave all handguns where they are on the belt, and to blouse my shirt over the seatbelt so it can be easily displaced while sitting. The diagonal portion of the belt is over my shirt, but the hem of my shirt loosely floats over the lap portion of the seat belt, and I ensure I am not sitting on the back hem of the shirt. The downside is upon exiting the vehicle under normal circumstances, this requires a garment self-check after the seatbelt is unlatched to make sure everything stays concealed once you are upright.

If I am sitting in the driver's seat, I can grab the steering wheel and pull myself forward to create additional space to sweep the shirt and get a complete grip on a handgun in a strong-side belt holster at 3-4:30.

[abbreviated profanity deleted] off-body vehicle carry (not my first choice), I agree with jbirds and TAM on the Safepacker. A little spendy at ~$50, but worth it. Be careful about the velcro abrading the seatbelt with repeated use.
