I wonder if those are the same people worried about their concealed carry holster scratching their gun. I think it's a similar situation with cars. If you're going to get upset about tiny scratches and dings then you should keep it safe in your garage and drive something else on roads with pot holes to the supermarket parking lot full of wind blown shopping carts.Carrots wrote:Quite. I can’t help getting the willies when I see folks post their $3000 high end 1911's in the daily carry thread. Whilst "it is only money" / "we are talking about my life here" / "Oh I have 10 of those at home" &c it is a little OTT IMO. When I unearth the cash for one of these bad boys it will be my last choice for chugging around with day to day, but of course one mans $3k monthly earnings is another mans Friday Night Beer Money. Alas.

Re: Suppressor Carry
This would go for both my Kel-Tec P11 and Taurus 85 Ultralite. I have no problem carrying either or both.blue wrote:A carry should be
1-Dependable

3-EXPENDABLE!!!
If used-it will most likely be:
-confiscated for evidence.
-given NO care or Respect.
-very difficult to retrieve, months/years, big bucks, or both.
-may Never get it back, or badly damaged.

Good solid Working Carrys are best.
Save the "Sunday and BBQ" and "Keepsakes".

1 Reliable, I think this is the same as dependable.
2 Safe,
3 It must be a gun I understand and know well.
4. comfortable enough to carry.
I figure that almost anything I own would be expendable in comparison to what I would be attempting to protect. It shouldn't matter if Its a $1500 gun or a $150 gun,

Lessee, 71 years old, 4 years as an engineman on a diesel submarine (125+ dB) with no hearing protection, 8 years as a chemical plant operator, 12 more years in the head shed of chemical plants and refineries. My ears are ringing as I type this so there you go. Anyone of you young 'uns who listened to loud music, played in a garage band, high school band etc have already done the damage. A suppressor on a defense weapon for hearing protection should be way down on your list of health related concerns.seamusTX wrote:To avoid hearing damage.
I'm pretty sure if you discharge a centerfire pistol in an enclosed space, you're going to have some permanent hearing loss and probably ringing in your ears for a few days.
I don't understand why police departments didn't make them standard years ago.

Re: Suppressor Carry
You gonna wear a really long coat? AAC shows 7.75" length for their .40 suppressor. Also, assume you're going to carry it dry. It would be even heavier with H2O or oil. Really, I've wondered how to CC a suppressor. It makes for a heck of a "draw". Kind of like carrying one of those 8" bbl Colt Anacondas.heliguy972 wrote:Don't know that I would ever do it but, any legal issues with carrying a Glock 27 with AAC Suppressor concealed?? Got my CHL and my Form 4 in wallet....If I had to use this combo in self defense, any speculation on negative impact on a case review by the Police?
Hey is a that a suppressor in you pocket, or are you just happy to see me...

4/13/1996 Completed CHL Class, 4/16/1996 Fingerprints, Affidavits, and Application Mailed, 10/4/1996 Received CHL, renewed 1998, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2016...). "ATF... Uhhh...heh...heh....Alcohol, tobacco, and GUNS!! Cool!!!!"
Re: Suppressor Carry
Complete non-issue - it's not like an oil change for your car that requires 4 quarts. You squirt a tablespoon or so of water or ultrasound gel or what-have-you and you're good to go. There will be zero perceived change in weight between running it wet or dry.ScottDLS wrote:Also, assume you're going to carry it dry. It would be even heavier with H2O or oil.

Re: Suppressor Carry
The reason I might possibly maybe want to carry with the suppressor on my G27,is that I shoot a whole lot better with it on. The low report, especially if caught by surprise, allows me to stay focused on the target. The suppressor also subdues the recoil, so I'm a lot faster to return to target. I can carry the combo IWB with long shorts on without printing...
