Pink AR, has anyone painted one?

Post by RiverRat »

AR sickness has come to my house. I made the mistake of building one.....somehow they have multiplied to several. I recently built one for my wife, NOW Mrs. RiverRat wants a pink AR.

Anyone have any advice on paint or coatings? She's seen the "pink kitty" postings and doesn't want to be seen with a "plain ole" evil black rifle anymore. I'm not sure I can visualize an evil pink AR in the gun rack in the pickup, but guess I'll get used to the thought.

I don't see hot pink DuraCoat, but it ought to be in there somewhere: http://www.lauerweaponry.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There's definitely pink Gunkote, though: https://www.kgcoatings.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (That satin brass coating would be really tempting if I had an AR - it's just such a pimp gun to start with, might as well go all the way.)

Thanks, looks like lots of choices. It ought to be fun.

I put a set of these on mine.

I'm not a "girly-girl." But some things just beg to be pinked. Just because. :evil2:

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

:iagree:....and she already has a pink 10/22...it would match on her side of the gun safe... :smilelol5: ...so far I haven't faced the pink 1911 conversation.

I actually ordered some of those this afternoon for a quick solution, I'm still debating with myself on the Duracoat. Did some research this afternoon and it looks like a minimum of $150 to $200 to get all the supplies, degreasers, primers, reducers, etc. to do it right......with about three colors....I can send it out and it can be professionally done for $200 to $300 http://www.jimsgunsupply.com/index2.html.... The jury is still out, maybe that'll be a long term part of the project. I was impressed with this guys photo gallery of guns he has done.

If my wife wanted either This Pink 1911 or This one I'd buy it for her in a second! :thumbs2:

I know when I finish my AR15, she'll want one to match her pink Mossberg 500.

I really liked the pink EMP, I followed the link on the bottom of the jpg and it was done with the Duracoat.

Keith, you are causing trouble....she prefers the white barrel with her pink AR as in your "kitty" post, ....it looks so much cleaner...., maybe I can talk her into a stainless barrel, instead.....it looks so much easier. :crazy:
