Got a pleasant surprise in the mail

#1

Post by H C Striker »

I've been lurking here for the last two months and finally decided to post a message. I sent my application in on May 22. I received my pin number 25 days later. I never once checked the status of my application because I refused to enter my ss# over the internet. I went to my mail box today hoping that I'd beat the 60 day limit and low and behold it was there.

The interesting thing is that my birthday was two days ago and yet my chl is good for 5 years. I thought if it was issued before your birthday you only got 4 years.

Striker, welcome. Yes sir we are glad to have you. That is probably the best 1st post anyone has had the priviledge to offer. I got 5 yr on my first also. The reasone is, your liscense is good for 4yr. It always comes due on your birthday. The free time is the time from issue until your 1st birthday. Good for 4 yrs from that time. My bday is the 14 & L issued on the 20th. Welcome again & have a great day.

When my CHL was so long in coming, I finally started hoping it would be just after my BD. When it finally came, it was like yours for 5 years. That makes my first renewal in 2011, a half-price one. Any earlier and it would have missed it by days. I'm Scottish enough to appreciate that!

Good deal Granny. Mine is ready to renew & I got my letter today. It will be for 5 yr again but I will not get the 1/2 price & will just miss it next time.

What is with the "1/2 price" ? I thought the senior rate did not apply to renewals. If it does I will qualify on my next renewal (in 2010).

Senior rate applys to renewals now...........
.......its kinda like the personal check thing. The legislature changed it, but an awful lot of folks don't know it yet.
