Renewal Timeline ?

Post by dtalley »

I'm going tonight to take my Renewal Class. My license doesn't expire until Dec. Is getting your renewal back from DPS any quicker than for those that are obtaining new permits? I guess I'll see you in the Waiting Room anyhow....

I received my renewal in about 45 days. Was quite surprised!

Mine took 35 days. That was last summer. My wife did her this spring -- it seemed to take longer, but there was a "reset" in the middle cuz something wasn't filled out right, so that may affect the perception.

p.s. others have recommended getting a Pennsylvania CHL as a back up in case your current one runs out before the new one gets to you. It's $26. You have to have a current one from your home state. Search on this website, there is a thread about it someplace here. I wish we had thought of that before my wife's came up for renewal -- she waited too long to get started, and went "without" for awhile.

I went without for a short time also. Recieved the packet in January the next thing I know it's mid April. Not a good feeling and it won't happen again.

I actually just posted a thread on this over in the "CHL Checklist" forum. In short, I sent my completed app off on July 15th, and recieved my renewal license on Saturday, August 30th. Roughly 45 days including mail both ways.

:clapping: to DPS, at least in my case!
