City owned events center

Post by A-R »

Just checking with y'all to be sure I'm correct in my interpretation of this.

Sept 25 I'll be attending a George Strait concert that will also be the grand opening of the new Cedar Park Events Center. Tough to find confirmation, but I'm 99% sure this building is owned by the City of Cedar Park (I know they put up about $40-something million of the construction costs). Wikipedia says definitely the center is owned by city. Center web site is lacking info at the moment.

http://www.cedarparkcenter.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyway, if this building is city owned, just want to make sure I'm correct that even if they post this venue with a "valid" 30.06 sign, it is still legal to carry because a city-owned building cannot legally post a 30.06 notice. Only possibility of being legally prohibited from carrying in the venue is when the minor league hockey team is playing. But for a concert, I should be good to go, correct?
Sec. 30.06. TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF LICENSE TO CARRY CONCEALED HANDGUN.
(e) It is an exception to the application of this section that the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035.

That is correct. If the place is city owned, they cannot prohibit you from carrying concealed, unless the activity taking place falls under one of the other prohibited activities.
