CHL status check page ("Texas DPS - Crime Records Service")
Considering that this page submits your ID/DL number, SSAN, and DOB, why are they not using https to help protect this info?? Just fired off an email asking that question... will post any reply I get.

It uses HTTPS when I try it, and Firefox shows the lock icon that indicates that it is a secure page.

Interesting... just changed the http to https in my browser, and it came up fine... guess it just doesn't default to https. It should!

The main page:
http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASA ... ctTask.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
....is not a secure web page. But when you click on "Track the Status of Your Application", it takes you to another page which is secure. https (the "s" stands for secure).
It's the same when you go into your online banking page, your credit card # page, etc.

hehe... see my sig, I'm quite aware of the diff between http/https, etc., and how banking pages work
But that page wasn't coming up https for whatever reason. It actually should be blocked from coming up http, but they probably left that open for ancient browsers.
Just modified my bookmark to select the secure version in the future.
