Got my CHL but they misspelled my name!
Hey guys got my CHL woo hoo! But noticed they misspelled one letter of my middle name, my middle name is Eduardo and they put Edvardo. No I did not misspell my name on the apps. They have my DL number, my Social Security, etc.. and they do a background check yet they manage to misspell my middle name..is this gonna be a problem or do i have to call them and have them fix it?

If it were me, I'd hop on getting it exactly right with the CHL office.
We have unique names in my family that always are getting misspelled.
If you let the misspellings go, they can spread to other documents, mailing addresses, etc.

By the way when i bought my glock 27 i used my chl and handed the clerk my DL and my CHL and informed him of the mistake and i got a proceed and walked out the door in like 10 minutes so i guess the error is not a big deal?
Re: Got my CHL but they misspelled my name!
If the store thought your CHL was valid, why did they run an "instant" check?

Instant check? They just handed the manager the gun he escorted me to the register and i paid for it. before it would take 30 minutes or more, i had to fill out a NICS and they would be on the phone doing the info for about 10 minutes.
Re: Got my CHL but they misspelled my name!
You still have to fill out the form whether you have a CHL or not.

If i had to get it fixed with the DPS do i have to send them my current license back while i wait for a new one? If thats the case thats bull!
Re: Got my CHL but they misspelled my name!
Call them and ask....but I do not think you will have to send your current one back unless after you receive your new correct one.
Also a call to them to fix this should end up being a free change to the license you have. In other words no charge to you for a duplicate since the error was made by them.
If you fill out the form for a duplicate, you will have to pay the fee. And, you would probably get another one that is incorrect!

You need to be on the telephone to them right now.

You and the seller (retail store) violated ATF Laws and you are now a Felon!scprotector1 wrote:Well i didn't fill out a form
No kidding, everyone fills out the 4473 form for every gun purchased retail, CHL holder makes no difference on the filling out of the form. It only means that an instant check (call) is not required.
You had to have filled out the form or they could not have done an instant check call. They have to give the information off the form to the Agency doing the instant check.
I'm calling BULL on this one.......

Only way you can buy any gun without filling out a 4473 is to buy it from an individual (not a store or dealer).

You think that is bad. A couple years ago I got a Virginia license as a back up to my Texas and when I received the license the picture on the license was of someone else but had all my information.

When I got my first one DPS sent mine to someone else! Mine was put in the envelope BEHIND someone's and that someone received mine and his/hers.
When I hadn't received mine I called and complained and they told me that I would have to wait 60 days for a duplicate to be issued! Don't remember why that was. But to say the least, I was a bit upset.
Fortunately the person who got mine mailed it back to DPS and they sent it on to me about a week later.

AEA was it is late 2003 because I got someone else’s sent to me. The envelope had my name and address on it but the license was in someone else’s name. I didn't write down the name because I went back into the post office and sent it back to TDPS right away. I would hate to think they have done that more than once.

Not sure really when it was, but it was in 2003. Whoever got mine got theirs as well in the same envelope. The envelopes then had a plastic window and a slot inside just the right size for the CHL so that only the name/address area would show thru the window.
The guys was in front and showing thru the window and mine was behind his in the same slot in the envelope. He kept his and sent mine back to DPS.

scprotector1,
Happened to a friend of mine. He phoned DPS, they told him they would send one with his name spelled correctly, to go ahead use the mis-spelled one for the time being and send it back when the correct one came. Took about a week as I recall.
Regards,
Andrew
