This is a tricky one. I know that you can carry in a city or county library, under normal non-voting time circumstances, but what about the Tomball City Library? It is actually constructed ON the campus of Lonestar College Tomball Campus, but it is the city's official public library. Does this make it part of Lonestar College, or does this make it leased city property? Asking THEM would be the stupidest thing I could do, as the answer will be "NO," due to general bureaucratic ignorance and disregard for the law. There ARE academic activities that take place outside of the main library area, but in the same building.(The school is one large building, under one roof.) Does anybody who lives in Tomball know the specifics on this one? I don't never go to no libery, but my wife does. She was really hoping she could get an answer on this one to know if she needs to leave it in the car or not. I told her I would ask.
Thanks ya'll,

Re: Carry at Tomball Public Library?
I am not a lawyer, but here is my opinion: If it is housed in the same building as other college facilities, then I would think it would be off-limits. Also, unless the city actually owns the land and building, it probably belongs to the college and the city is either leasing it or being allowed to use it and it would be off-limits.coog83 wrote:This is a tricky one. So, bottom line, unless you can find out that the city owns it and it is a 'stand alone facility', then I would steer clear of carrying there.

Re: Carry at Tomball Public Library?
I wouldn't carry there. It's a building on a college campus, which is either off-limits or so close to off-limits that it's not worth the risk. Besides, the Tomball college cops carry 1911s, so maybe they have things well in hand
EDIT: oh, and it is directly connected to the main campus building by a corridor on the 2nd floor...

Re: Carry at Tomball Public Library?
Thanks guys. Not the answer I was looking for, but a very sound one, and more or less what I was already thinking. I was hoping for a loophole, but we'll let it rest. And yes, the library IS connected to the second floor, and the campus police DO have quite a presence at Tomball, or at least they did when I last attended, about six years ago. I still see them at the library from time to time.
