Pulled Over By State Trooper
On a recent trip to south texas to dove hunt I was pulled over for speeding (radar must have been broken !!) I had time to get my TDl & CHL out before the officer approached my truck. He said he pulled me over for speeding and i handed him both liscense and told him i was carrying. He asked where the weapon was and I told him in my center console. He said please step out of vehicle and to to the rear. As I was getting out of my truck he stepped back and to the front of my truck like I was a threat. I thought this isn't going to be good. As i shut the door he approached and as we walked to the rear of my truck he asked again that my weapon was in my console and I said yes. He then said your wife isn't going to get it is she?? I chuckled and said no sir, in fact she she will be taking her test this next week !! In our discussion I told him i just put bigger tires on the truck and have not gotten my speedometer re-calibrated yet. He said ok, went to his car to run my liscense then returned and thanked me for being cooperative and let me go !! Normally a State Trooper is an automatic ticket !! (wife did take her test and did awesome!!)

I used to think so, too, until I was pulled over by DPS for the first time in 2005 and then again in 2007. Warnings were issued both times. Good stop either way. :)NORMAN wrote:Normally a State Trooper is an automatic ticket !!

The only tickets I have ever been let out of were after being stopped by state troopers. I have even been let off a few times by troopers in other states. Maybe they don't get bonuses like the local yocals for giving out tickets.

Revenue generating in today's environment for the local towns. I have been ticketed by both. I think it really depends on the severity of the infraction.03Lightningrocks wrote:The only tickets I have ever been let out of were after being stopped by state troopers. Re: Pulled Over By State Trooper
I was traveling one time and was stopped by a state trooper just outside of San Antonio at 11pm. Officer asked where the weapon was, I said small of the back, he asked me to step out of the vehicle, put on the seat and step behind the back of my truck. He was very polite but cautious. Fastest traffic stop I've ever had, even with being ticketed it had to be all done in 5 minutes or less. He gave me a ticket for speeding, but thanked me for being so cooperative and I was on my way.

I'm polite but never got a warning. No big deal. I take defensive driving.
That reminds me. My insurance discount for defensive driving expires this year.
Time to put the pedal down.

Re: Pulled Over By State Trooper
I've been pulled over only a handful of times in 35 years of driving, only been let off twice. Once was my most recent stop, was on the way to work in the dark of the morning and just wasn't paying attention to my speed on the Interstate. San Antonio cop pulled me over into a parking lot, I put the window down, turned on the dome light and put my hands on the wheel. I had my wallet on the console of the truck in plain sight so I could reach for it without him losing sight of my hands. Don't know if any of that had any influence but he let me off with a warning. The other time was when the officer happened to be a guy I had graduated from high school with and he also let me off with a warning.
Only one time did I have an officer with an attitude, young SAPD motorcycle cop who kept making remarks about not being able to believe I was speeding when he was in plain sight. It was on a wide-open 4 lane road but the limit was 40 and he claimed I was doing 50, I may have been because it was one of those roads that you just feel should be posted a little higher. Kind of felt like he was trying to provoke me into adding trouble for myself but I just kept my mouth shut except for the "Yes, sirs" and "No, sirs" and took the ticket.
