Contenders in Cedar Park -- sign posting

I was at the new Contenders Sports Bar in Cedar Park on Sunday evening, and I noticed that they have BOTH the "unlicensed possession" and "51% signs posted. The licenses were actualy posted behind the bar area and I didn't see if they said sign=red or sign = blue on them. Clearly, this is an incorrect posting, and I'll get around to calling TABC about it. Has anyone ever seen this? I'm assuming they just got a sign pack from TABC and posted all the stuff. I'm sure they didn't do this intentionally.

As for whether i think it's a 51% place or not, I think it is probably close. They have a complete food menu, but it mostly seemed like a bar to me. I didn't and wouldn't carry there both because I believe it's probably a majority alcohol sale place as well as I'm likely to be drinking > 1 beer while watching a game or something.

Why would we want to post there? This wasn't a 30.06 sign. They just seemed confused about which TABC sign to post. Personally, I think it's a 51% bar, but they have both signs there, and that's clearly not what they should be doing. I'll contact TABC and ask a question. I'm sure they'll get a call about it.

Ah....Well, the issue currently is they have both the 51% and "unlicensed" signs. Once they settle on which they are supposed to post, then I'll add to the site.

I consider the word 'bar' as a clue.

Well, it might be a clue but it's not a reliable one in my experience. "Applebees Grill and Bar" is not a 51% place. It really depends on the license, and the Contenders folks have both signs posted. They do have a real food menu, so who knows. Sent an inquiry to TABC. Will post any info I get back.

Received response from TABC. Also called the number, and they said they'd talk to them about fixing the sign posting.

Good information. So they are NOT a 51% establishment and had the sign improperly posted. You are good to carry there with the blue sign!!
