Got Grips?

Post by MoJo »

RiverRat's thread on barbecue guns got me to thinking - - - I am an admitted grip junkie especially for 1911 pattern pistols. Here's a few of my favorites let's see yours.

The gun on the left is an STI Trojan with a set of synthetic ivory grips scrimshawed by Sid Ryan. The gun on the right is an Auto Ordnance with a set of synthetic jade grips with gold Texas Star by Louie Meredeth. Below that are some more of Meredeth's work a set of imitation stag grips with silver Texas Star, a set of plain synthetic jade, and a set of synthetic ivory with WWI commemorative medals inlaid.

I'm personally not a fan of ornate grips, but those 1911s are beautiful!
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

Mojo, Beautiful guns. Beautiful grips. :txflag: I particularly like the ones with the Texas stars. :txflag:

I can tell I'm going to have to cut down that stump for the spalted pecan now. Luckily for the tree stump, it rained today.

I'll add a grip to the post. Another homemade one.
Here are some rosewood ones I carved with my "oldtimer" in the early '70's and finished with acyrlics and marine spar varnish (I had a wooden inboard at the time). The gun is a .22mag Colt New Frontier.

RR those are some good looking grips on a good looking single action.
