Odd YMCA 30.06 Encounter
I had shoulder surgery in August and am now going thru physical therapy (PT), I chose the Hermann Memorial inside a YMCA because it's close. On my first visit I looked the front door over very well, no posting, so I went in and signed up. Upon leaving I saw the 30.06 posting on the side of the front door, but the only way I saw it was the sun was backlighting it, it's black on black tinting, invisible unless the sun is setting and you're leaving, and the letters are way less than 1". So on my next visit yesterday I disarmed before entering and we went thru even more moves, she commented on my holster, I explained I disarmed because of the posting, she said "What posting?". She works there and had no idea it was posted. Memorial Hermann has a no firearm policy for it's employees (my wife works for them too), but she had no idea the Y was posted. I explained the posting isn't legal since it's not 1" and not contrasting, she's not a CHL, but knows about us, I told her I'm not going to be the one who tests the law. My insurance only allows Hermann Memorial for PT, and I know the other clinics are posted, although not legally just like the Y, I guess I have to disarm to go, I want my arm movement back.

Seems like a company policy.
They get nothing from me. Good luck to you.

I ignore signs that don't conform to the requirements of the law. If I have to obey the law, then so do they.

This sounds more like someone was told to post a sign, but intentionally posted one that is not visible and non-compliant.
They can tell their boss that they posted it, and at the same time, have absolutely no effect.
I would carry no questions asked.

IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.

I agree it's not legal, I agree I "should" just walk past it, but the PT is done in a big room with others who are getting PT, with the excersises I'm doing my holster shows all the time, it's just not worth the potential headache.

Funny about the waist pack; there is a lady that comes to our gym that has a waist pack. I REALLY want to ask her if she is carrying, but haven't found the opportunity to approach her when we could chat privately.bdickens wrote:Two words: waist pack.
