My dad teaches at a private school that doesn't allow weapons of sort. My Dad does have a CHL, but does not carry. He was having problems with a student's parents that were goin through a divorce. The father of the child would often show up to school to see his child in the middle of the school day. The school has known the family for around 10 years, but the father started to act strange when he would come around. My dad was pretty upset because if this gentleman was to come to school to try to take his child away and started shooting people this would be a tragic event.
I asked my Dad what would be the penalties if you carried and saved your life as well as others on a school campus in this type of situation. We came to an agreement that it would probably not be worth going through all the legal processes nowadays and let whatever happen. happen. Any thoughts? Comments? I am still trying to figure this out.

Re: Teachers who NEED to Carry
That's tough. You have my sympathy. I think anyone with a valid CHL should be able to carry anywhere
a LEO can. That includes schools, bars, sporting events etc.
The only thing your Dad can do is alert the school admin of his concerns and hope for the best.
Maybe they'll require front door entry, a sign-in log inside the Headmasters office.....then keep
your fingers crossed nothing goes wrong.

It is relly frustrating, I asked a lawyer I met over at Glocktalk.com, he couldn't give me an answer. So must be a super-gray area.

Smart Carry. Concealed means concealed. I'm not a lawyer but my ex wife did marry one.
If a teacher actually saves a bunch of children's lives, I pity the (Texas) prosecutor that tries to convict. Of course if a stray round stikes a child, I doubt very much if your father would ever see the outside of a jail cell for the rest of his life.
We each need to follow what our own conscience tells us regardless of what the law states.
