Gun Show

Post by Keith »

Gun Show ? I know I cant CHL my gun there but I know you are allowed to bring one just cant be loaded.

(1) How do I present my gun? Can I have my pistol concealed in a holster or does it have to be exposed at all time.

If this has been answered I apologise up front just had a hard time finding info on this. No answer at gun show headquarters. Im looking for another holster and would like to try it out with the gun. Ive bought a few that once I tried them I didnt care for how they felt. As allways thank you.

Usually the police have a table at the entrance and you check it in there. Lots of folks bring things in to sell or trade. The police will put a brightly colored zip tie on it locking the slide or trigger and in you go. I've only carried empty guns in before. I think a loaded one might get you a stern lecture at the minimum.

I do have to have the gun exposed not concealed in a holster then at all time. Wasnt sure what holster to bring. I love my blackhawk but its a IWB and may not work with the zip tie

Ohhhh this subject has been cussed and discussed up and down and inside out. You are likely to get many completely different answers.

If it were me, I'd put the gun in a gun sock or pistol case while still in the car. Keep the spare mag in your pocket. Needless to say, don't have a round in the chamber.

In the mid 80's I set up at every major Dallas & Ft.Worth gun show. They had just begun the requirement that any gun entering the show must be zip tied, when I got out of the hobby. I haven't been to a gun show in over 20 years so I really can't comment on how they run those things now.

Hope that helps a lil' bit.

My first time I had to return to the car twice before I got in. First time, remove ammo from gun; second time, leave ammo in car. After than, empty gun, action open, in OWB holster under jacket, unholster for LEO and he zip tied and I reholstered. I know I've seen this posted, but it is still funny to note they want no ammo on your person, but I could buy all the ammo I wanted, more magazines and be ready to go. :headscratch

Looks like there IS a gun show at Will Rogers this weekend:

I'm thinking about going. BTW, there's a $1.00 off coupon for admission on the website.

Thanks for the tip geekwagon! :tiphat:

There's one in Mesquite Nov 7-8. Not the Rodeo one but the Exhibition Hall off 80. I prefer this one, more like a flea market. The Rodeo one sometimes has a rep from Beretta showing off 30K shotguns. I usually like to go home with something even if its a $1.50 bore brush.

http://www.aubreyturner.org/gunshows" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; keeps an update schedule for the DFW area.

No difference between loaded and unloaded in 30.06 or UCW.
