Strange Question

Waiting for my CHL license, I have the holster, the gun ect.
But I'm not used to carrying it.

I have a Plastic Training Gun thats the same Model as my Carry gun...

So could I carry the Bright Blue Plastic Training gun legally?

Sure. It's no different from kids playing "cops and robbers" with cap guns.

I think you will find that nearly everyone is clueless. Even police officers don't look or notice unless you fit their profile.

my advice would be to only do this around the house...i just dont see anything good coming from being in public with something that looks like a gun to any uneducated idiot that may notice it...

Just something to keep in mind, a big part of carrying a weapon is dealing with the weight. I am not sure what type of training gun you are using, but most times these are the correct dimensions, only much lighter. I use a rubber 1911 for self-defense training, and while I have never tried it, I imagine it would be much easier to carry than my real 1911. The weight of the weapon will determine how and where on your person you carry, as well as create issues such as dragging your pants down. You will likely find that the training gun does not match a real carry experience and then you have to start over at ground zero when you do it for real. Probably the best choice would be to carry your real weapon around the house. Just food for thought. Good luck with your app.!

I agree with wearing your weapon around the house. Get used to carrying it as often as possible and especially in as many different types of clothing as possible. Figure out what is comfortable, what works and what does not. I am sure that I bought at least 3 or 4 or more different types of holsters and variants that I eventually determined simply don't work for me.
You want to get all of that worked out before the first time you step out of the house and you are finally legal.

One thing you don't want to do is "Mexican carry" (no holster) a Glock in sweat pants.
Outcome of this = glockleg, loss of game time, prison.
Researcher: Plaxico Burress (sp?)

Another outcome: carrying your Taurus PT-111 in shorts with a drawstring.
Outcome: Dropping trou (rhymes with 'sow') and gun in the middle of a store.

I carried an airsoft gun in my IWB holster for a couple weeks before my license came in. Didn't have any problems, but it did get the jitters out.

Tens or hundreds of thousands of people have been carrying real handguns concealed in this state for 14 years. They very rarely get "made," and even more rarely does anything come of it.

I've been carrying my 1911 in a Crossbreed Supertuck around the house for a bit over a month now to break in the holster and get used to the feeling of carrying while waiting for my CHL. Haven't been "made" yet even though my wife has actually bumped up against the butt of the gun when giving me a hug. Don't wear it outside of the house and I don't think I'd be comfortable even with a training gun for reasons mentioned earlier, some "unenlightened' folks might not react too well if I messed up and accidentally exposed things, but that's just me.

Yeah, but assuming I dont care if I get made, will I be breaking any laws?

Mrs. Oldgringo and I attended her cousin's husband's funeral in Temple today. Cousin's husband was given full LEO Honor Guard send off with Procession, Pipes, Taps and 21 volley Salute. A very impressive and moving ceremony indeed.

Back on point: among many civilian mourners and at least 40 LEO w/glocks at today's service and the reception lunch afterward, no one but Mrs. Oldgringo and I knew, or cared, who was carrying the SA LW Compact in Code 1 throughout the service and the reception.

That's a very broad question so I'll say, "It depends."

I don't know any Texas laws you would break carrying a mock gun in general. There may be exceptions, like I wouldn't try to carry one past security at the airport.
