PD: man fired gun several times, Suspect: it went off on its own
EL PASO -- A man who allegedly fired three shots outside the Industry Night Club in the East Side claims the gun went off on its own, police officials said.

Officers responded to the nightclub, which is located at 1499 Lee Trevino, shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday in regards to a "shots fired" call. An investigation revealed Antonius Williams, 20, of the 1400 block of Dale Douglas, was inside the club at the same time an altercation ensued.

Police officials said Williams left the club and fired several shots towards the club and at several people near the club. Security officers at the scene detained Williams till police arrived, police officials said.

Williams told police his gun weapon had just "gone off by itself three times," police officials said.

Police officers were able to recover the weapon and arrested Williams. He is charged with deadly conduct and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

I've heard a lot of dumb excuses but this ranks right up there at the top.

It went off 3 times, by itself, while by itself, it pointed itself at the club and several people near the club.

Uh huh.

But officer, I was just peeling an apple with my knife. He walked around the corner and ran into my knife... five times!

Is that the one? :smilelol5:

Mr. Williams is obviously the victim here, since the only real explanation which makes sense is that the hand transplant he must have received recently was possessed. :coolgleamA:
