Instructor in DC Area

Okay, this is a shot in the dark, but I'll try :)

A good friend of mine, she's about as Left as they come, however, I have managed to convince her that guns aren't evil things that float around on their own and shoot people

I've gotten her to a point where she is willing to at least go and learn about handguns, possibly take a beginning from zero class. She has never touched nor seen a handgun in person (other than like, on an officer's belt) in her life. As she said today: "I don't want to own a gun, but if I was to ever come across one I would have no idea what to do with it other than scream and call 911 or run away", to which I replied "Well, at least you wouldn't try and pick it up without knowing anything about how to handle it. You'd never guess how many people get that part wrong"

Anyways, does anyone know, or can refer me to a patient, good, Female (she said she wanted a female) basic firearms instructor in the DC Area that can start from Zero for her?
Doesn't have to be IN DC. Virginia, MD, etc all acceptable.

Obviously, my hope is that she'll become a die-hard competition shooter :P However, I would be happy with breaking her pre-concieved notion that guns are evil, and maybe her telling a couple of her other Left friends that guns, in fact, are not scary, evil, and only used by bad people.

From that page, I found no female instructors within 50 miles of her teaching the lowest First Basic pistol class.

Also, I don't think she'd do a 'class'. I'd prefer one-on-one.

If she is worth all this trouble, she is worth a plane ticket to come visit you in Cypress. From there, it's just a short drive to CompVest. You can't do better than that!

Haha, that's my other plan, if I can't get her to go to someone up there, next time she comes down to visit us, it's guaranteed :) We just don't know when that is :)

My suggestion after the already mentioned NRA, would be to contact a local IDPA club and see if there is a woman shooter in the club that would work with her. Preferably the woman would be at least at the sharpshooter level.

You could also reach out to Ken Blanchard ("The Urban Shooter" podcast & "Black Man With a Gun" book). Pretty sure he is an NRA instructor and lives in the DC area.
